Avarice, to obtain total control of Greene Enterprises, Marcel Wentworth is willing to do anything. Including slowly and inconspicuously poisoning his wife, Carol, and mother-in-law, Percy Greene.
In childhood, Sasha Greene befriends a young boy by the name of Peter Blackwell who lives in a destitute house on the outskirts of her family's property. It is the strength of Iris, an ancient Chinese warrior girl, that helps Sasha save Peter from an untimely death.
At the age of sixteen, Sasha finds out her destiny holds much more in store for her than college, boys and martial arts. She is forced by Nidean, one of three Guardians of The Black Border, to realize she inherited the vivacious spirit of Iris at the tender age of six. If Sasha refuses her destiny, her remaining family will be at risk of imminent death by her own unwitting hands. As a result, Sasha mysteriously disappears.
Iris is a young Chinese girl with black silky hair and dark green eyes who, at the age of eleven, witnesses the killing of her mother and grandmother in the mid eighteenth century. She finds herself joining forces with the Imperialist Army in an attempt to fight off General Su, part of Khan's rebel invading army, who is going from village to village annihilating all of the women and young girls.
Seven years after Sasha goes missing, and after a vicious ambush against the Atlanta Police Department, the three Guardians of The Black Border reprise the bodies of Sasha and Iris, along with the spirited white Siberian tiger, Cheene. The three entities merge into one brilliant being, Kat Chen, who must destroy the evil that lurks within a man Sasha once knew as her father, Marcel Wentworth. Little does she know that Marcel's body has been taken over by a soldier of Lucifer, Arabacus. It is only a small step in Lucifer's plans to conquer the mortal world.
Kat must also locate the chosen young mortal boy to replace Banta, one of the fading Guardians. In return for Kat's accomplishments, Nidean promises to release her and disengage the merging.
Once again the swords of Iris must join together to destroy Lucifer's soldier, Arabacus. Only then is it revealed to Kat that many other demons have been unleashed upon the human world . . . and the clock is ticking.
